There have been a sharp increase in the number of referrals we have received this year. The demand for our service has skyrocketed. In order to meet the moment, we need more bureaus, kitchen tables, couches, living room chairs, lamps, and small tables. But we only had one truck.
Cummings Foundation once again stepped up to fully fund the purchase of a brand-new 10′ box truck. This expands the number of free pickups we can do and ensures we can better serve the people in need we help. We have plenty of availability for free pickups – you can call, e-mail, text, or send a message through Facebook messenger to inquire about scheduling a free pickup.
We can only pick up in the following towns: Burlington, Lexington, Lynnfield, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Wilmington, Winchester, and Woburn. We will not enter a home to pick up donations as our volunteers are not professional movers. Items must be in an accessible outside area (garage, driveway, curb etc.).
To treat our clients with dignity and respect, we cannot accept items that are stained, worn out, torn, scratched, chipped, broken, missing parts or have pet fur. We can only accept furniture that will fit in a small apartment and can be carried up a narrow staircase. Disposing of items comes at a cost that takes away from our ability to serve clients. We will inspect items before accepting and reserve the right to decline anything that would not suit our clients. Please print our guidelines.
